We at SARAH Inc, KIDSTEPS are seeking a Full-Time Developmental Therapist to provide services and support to infants, toddlers, and their families enrolled in the KIDSTEPS Birth to Three Program at SARAH Inc. PRIMARY JOB FUNCTIONS (Not Limited To):
Under professional supervision assess children and families and assist with and plan, develop, implement, and review curriculums and IFSP's that will meet the individual developmental needs of young children and their families.
Communicate effectively through a family-centered philosophy, and respect for cultural diversity manner with families, staff, and community representatives.
Comply with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, guidelines and best practices providing state contracted early intervention services.
Performs functions of service coordinator as assigned including ensuring that KIDSTEPS services achieve desired outcomes for families and children served and that B23 services meet the standards as established by the state’s quality assurance team.
Assist in promoting and supporting community awareness and relationships of SARAH, Inc. and KIDSTEPS.
Participates in periodic regional, staff and team meetings with early intervention professionals.
Translates documents as needed and/or requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of early intervention best practices, childhood development, family systems disabilities, company policies, procedures and applicable regulatory requirements
Skill in working with families and children with differing abilities
Experienced in planning, organizing, problem solving, and decision making
Skilled in writing and communicating effectively in a courteous and professional manner
Skill in mentoring and training staff in a positive manner
Ability to demonstrate good communication, cultural sensitivity, and interpersonal skills necessary to provide guidance and instruction to families
Can maintain confidentiality
Ability to work flexible hours and drive/travel to varying locations as needed.
Fluent in Spanishpreferred
A developmental therapist must possess a valid initial, provisional or professional teaching certificate from the Connecticut State Department of Education (CSDE) in endorsements #112, #113,#065, or #165. If certification is lapsed, the individual cannot be employed as a developmental therapist. Early intervention experience preferred. Must have a valid Connecticut driver’s license with an acceptable driving history as defined by SARAH Inc.’s policy. Must have internet access, cell phone, and reliable transportation.
