We are looking for dedicated individuals to work in our day services program providing assistance to individuals served by SARAH Inc. to secure meaningful employment and to provide and/or arrange the necessary job supports to ensure success.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS (not limited to):

  • Direct and coordinate the overall operations of employment services to ensure compliance with all agency policies and regulatory requirements. 

  • Provide overall supervision of assigned staff by ensuring effective onboarding, training, scheduling and performance evaluation. Comfortable delegating tasks to Program Coordinators and employees.

  • Interview candidates for open positions and make hiring decisions which benefit the program.

  • Handle employee relation issues as needed, including meeting with and coaching employees, writing disciplinary notifications and employee terminations.

  • Assist in the development of assigned budget(s) and monitor expenses to assure budget compliance and fiscal accountability.

  • Oversee the development, implementation and quality of service employment activities that are person-centered and promote positive outcomes. Ensure the needs of service participants are met and the necessary supports are provided to meet individual outcomes.

  • Actively participate in activities that promote agency mission and strategic plan.

  • Ensure timely completion of all required and requested reports and requests for information.

  • Review and approve employee timecards as assigned on a weekly basis.

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with service participants, families, funders and all other stakeholders.

  • Promote an atmosphere of safe working conditions and practices to ensure the health, safety and well-being of staff and persons served.

  • Explore opportunities to add value to the job and recommend changes to their supervisor.
  • Willing and able to assist with a participant’s support needs in a respectful and professional manner when necessary.    

  • Attend and at times run monthly management meetings and other meetings as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

     

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of person-centered, outcome-based services for people with differing abilities, company policies and procedures, applicable regulatory standards and community resources
  • Skill in supervising and training staff, planning and organizing, problem solving
  • Effectively write and communicate in a courteous and professional manner
  • Attend to the physical and personal needs of adults with differing abilities, problem-solve effectively, maintain confidentiality, use adaptive and other equipment
  • Ability to read and understand budgets and financial information, work successfully independently and in a team environment, and work flexible hours in varying locations as needed

 

QUALIFICATIONS:   

Bachelor’s degree required; several years of experience providing employment supports to adults with intellectual disabilities would be considered in lieu of a degree. Minimum of three years of experience in a related field; two years in a supervisory or management capacity. Experience with budget management required. Must be able to write clearly and concisely and maintain accurate records. Must be over 21 and possess a valid Connecticut driver’s license, have an acceptable driving history and be able to utilize your own vehicle for SARAH business as defined by SARAH Inc.’s policy.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL EFFORT: Must be able to sit, stand and walk at an assigned location(s) and work for extended periods of time; bend/stoop, kneel and balance frequently; climb, reach above shoulder level; push/pull, squat and crouch occasionally; with assistance, lift, carry and position individuals of various weight. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds occasionally. Must be able to drive multi-passenger vehicles for extended periods throughout the day.
